What is Reiki & Who Can Learn It?
"Reiki" (ray-key) is Japanese for `universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.
People use Reiki to relax and strengthen their well being; reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue; help manage symptoms; reduce side effects of medications; and support recovery after injuries or surgery.
We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us, and we experience a sense of well being.
There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki treatments can help the body emotionally or spiritually. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system.
Learning Reiki is about being, and no amount of learning can bring this about. Reiki teaches you to be who you are and in tune with your body mind and soul. Simply learning because you desire knowledge on the subject is not enough, it is important to want to internalize and practice Reiki.
Very often, we judge a person by what he has accumulated rather than what he is. Reiki teaches you to look deeper at the person rather than what he has, knows or owns. The first principle is to start doing it; practicing Reiki is as simple as doing it. Reiki teaches you to stop trying to understand and to start practicing and believing.
